Tighe, a career cryptologist and a 1984 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy assumed command of U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet in April 2014, making history as the first woman to command a numbered fleet. Tighe will assume the duties of deputy chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare (N2N6) and director of Naval Intelligence (DNI).
Gilday, a surface warfare officer and a 1985 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, has served in in a diverse range of Navy and Joint assignments at sea and ashore, including most recently, director of Operations, J3, for U.S. Cyber Command. His most recent command tour was Carrier Strike Group 8 embarked on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).
