Continuing Promise 2017 Special Report
The humanitarian mission Continuing Promise 2017 is underway, and this blog is your place to follow it.
Continuing Promise is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored, and U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet conducted deployment, focused on civil-military operations including humanitarian-civil assistance activities comprised of medical, dental and veterinary support, as well as disaster response training to show U.S. commitment to Central and South American partner nations.
An estimated 15,000 people will be provided a variety of medical services including preventative medical treatments, dental screenings and treatment, optometry screenings, eyewear distribution and women’s health services.

Continuing Promise 2017 Completes Honduras, Tops 12,900 Patient Encounters
U.S. military personnel departed Trujillo, Honduras, after completing a 10-day mission stop in support of Continuing Promise 2017.
As part of the visit, a team of 169 Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps service members worked with local military counterparts, medical professionals, and volunteers to provide medical, dental, optometry, and veterinary services Feb. 21-March 2.

Continuing Promise 2017 Begins Honduran Operations
An opening ceremony marked the start of operations for Continuing Promise 2017’s second mission stop in Trujillo, Honduras, Feb. 21.
The event included local government officials; U.S. and Honduran military personnel; and the Honorable James Nealon, U.S. ambassador to Honduras, who highlighted how the two nations’ partnership will make the 10-day mission stop successful.
Guatemala Hosts Opening Ceremony for Continuing Promise 2017
An opening ceremony was held to celebrate the arrival of the humanitarian mission Continuing Promise 2017, Feb. 2, at its main medical site in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, which was Continuing Promise’s first stop on its three-month humanitarian and civic assistance mission.

The humanitarian mission Continuing Promise 2017 departed Naval Station Mayport, Florida, Jan. 26, for its stop in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala.
